Kyumbee Kim, a mixed media artist based in San Jose, CA. Born and raised in Korea.
I make paintings, drawings, and collages that layers representational imagery, textured marks and geometric and line elements inspired by weather maps.
My art making is a form of prayer. I am drawn to landscapes and natural elements associated with the experience of contemplation. My work seeks to highlight the presence of God, and the value of both tangible forms and invisible substances, often forgotten surrounded by the busyness and distractions of the material world.
