After the Seventh Disappointment, charcoal, paste on paper, 8x10, 2024

After the Seventh Disappointment is inspired by the story of Elijah from 1 Kings 18:41-46. As Elijah prayed for rain during a severe drought, he repeatedly sent his servant to look toward the sea for signs of change. Despite six reports of nothing, he persisted. On the seventh report of a small cloud, he declared the coming of rain. As they descended, the sky darkened, and a downpour began. The textured drawing surface in this work emphasizes the invisible movement of the winds and atmospheric forces, as well as the presence of a spiritual power beyond human perception and uncertainty.
